The North West Fashion Project
& Sewing Hub
NWFP & Sewing Hub
every 2nd Wednesday of the month, 6-9pm
The North West Fashion Project is a completely free, full-time course that runs every year for two weeks in August. No prior knowledge or training is needed, and participants learn not only practical sewing and pattern-cutting skills, but also the value of up-cycling and customising, and the ethics of sustainable fashion, giving them an alternative to chain stores and fast fashion. There is a Dragon’s Den element with coaching from industry professionals, and the course closes with a showcase of the participants’ work.
The course has been funded by the Skinners Company, Lady Neville Trust, Tesco’s Groundwork, the Aldenham Trust, the Coop Community fund and the Prism Foundation. Last year, thanks to support from Camden Alive, we were able to hold a runway final show, which was attended by our own local Councillor Quadir.

NWFP
Sewing Hub
Free Drop-in, every 2nd Wednesday of the month, 6-9pm.
Sewing Hub came into being as a response to NWFP graduates desire to continue to meet-up once a month to practice their skills and use the Thanet’s sewing machines. This is run as a drop-in, open to all, not just NWFP past students, and is led by a friendly, experienced professional who can guide and advise on projects people bring along or come up with on the spot. All the equipment and materials, as well tea, biscuits and some great tunes, are provided.
